Serious Posting Problem Fixed

Hi guys. I've fixed a problem which has made this site nearly useless for the past few weeks. New posts were only displaying the title, not the content of the post. I disabled two of the text renderers and this cured it. Don't know why yet as all they did was add a few formatting html tags.

Victory Over the Comment Spambots

Over the last few days I've been engaged in an epic struggle with robots depositing spam comments on this website. These take the form of some innocuous and irrelevant text such as "Nice blog, I'm so glad I found it", together with a url. The url is their real purpose. The text is chosen to be benign in hopes of not getting deleted. The spambots are sly. They keep their work off the front page. This is what allowed them to get as far as they did without being detected.

How should serious supporters of healthcare reform spend the month of August?

Not by getting trapped in the narrow "debate" between "party of no" Republicans who favor no reform at all, and Blue Dog Democrats, whose "reform" is to make a bad system worse.

In celebrity culture we destroy what we worship. The commercial exploitation of Michael Jackson’s death was orchestrated by the corporate forces that rendered Jackson insane. Jackson, robbed of his childhood and surrounded by vultures that preyed on his fears and weaknesses, was so consumed by self-loathing he carved his African-American face into an ever-changing Caucasian death mask and hid his apparent pedophilia behind a Peter Pan illusion of eternal childhood. He could not disentangle his public and his private self. He became a commodity, a product, one to be sold, used and manipulated. He was infected by the moral nihilism and personal disintegration that are at the core of our corporate culture. And his fantasies of eternal youth, delusions of majesty, and desperate, disfiguring quests for physical transformation were expressions of our own yearning. He was a reflection of us in the extreme.
