I really am sad to see this vicious attack on one of our seated Democratic Senators who is under attack from a Tea Party embracing far right "Republican" replacement during the upcoming elections.

Senator Reid was no more supportive of the Iraq invasion than the large majority of US Senators at that time. His religious beliefs have nothing to do with the subject at hand and the insinuation that he "has always beaten his wife" would be laughable were it not so serious.

Unless we believe that it is unimportant to this country whether far right ideologues unseat those Democratic Senators up for re-election in November, we would be wise not to give further advertising to this kind of article, which whips up a frenzy of anti-incumbent sentiment.

Granted that our Democratic incumbents have not been good stewards of the job entrusted to them in all instances. but I, for one, feel that they still represent better candidates than far right radicals.

As some infamous Republican said several years into the Iraq occupation: One doesn't go to war with the equipment wished for but with the equipment one has on hand. So it is with candidates in this election.

Disagreeing with someone's position on an issue who is of a different race is not itself racist. We have diluted the terms "racist" and "hate" in this country by applying such a loose definition. Disagreeing with someone and believing they are wrong is not hate. I think the last year and a half has proven that the concerns many had who were against Obama's election have proven to be well-founded.

"The factory — no point calling it a farm — called Wright County Egg, is the source of 380 million of the more than 500 million recalled eggs."

It is misleading to refer to "recalled eggs." It implies that the government has authority it does not have. Of course we would assume that the FDA had mandatory recall power. It is absurd that they do not. But that is the fact of the matter.

The unholy alliance of Republicans and Dixiecrats in the U.S. Congress have not seen fit to grant the FDA mandatory recall power. For some reasons unknown to me the USDA which monitors the cattle/beef industry does not monitor poultry. Poultry is under FDA and they lack the mandatory recall power the USDA has. So the recall that is out now is a "voluntary" one.

And experts in the fields off public heath and food safety do not believe the incredibly low number of "1300 sickened." With a half billion probably contaminated eggs out there that is just an unbelievably low number.
